For parents, grandparents, teachers, librarians and STEM programs
FOR GROWN-UPS
The best thing this website can do is make your kid close the laptop and go build something.
WHAT KIDS PRACTICE HERE
Creative problem solving
Open-ended builds with more than one right answer.
Hands-on learning
Ideas that only make sense once your hands are dirty.
Engineering thinking
Test, fail, adjust, test again. The design cycle, disguised as fun.
Experimentation
Every build ends with 'now change one thing.'
Outdoor exploration
Field skills, landscapes and weather in the real Southwest.
Resilience
"Too many hares, not enough turtles."
Resourcefulness
Use what you have. Buying the kit is always optional.
Intergenerational learning
Grandpa → Dad → BJ. Skills travel down the line.
Responsibility
Freedom with a rule: take care of the place.
Real-world skills
Tools, measuring, mechanics, water, wood, wiring sense.
AN ALTERNATIVE TO PASSIVE SCREEN TIME
Screens are great at holding attention and terrible at handing it back. This site is built to be used for ten minutes and then abandoned for two hours in the garage. Read a chapter, pick a build, gather materials, close the laptop.
PRIVACY & CHILD SAFETY
- • Private by default. Public sharing is never automatic.
- • Kids under 13 use a parent/guardian-controlled family account.
- • Public submissions require guardian approval and human moderation before they appear.
- • We collect the minimum: nickname, avatar, broad age range — no full birthdate, legal name, school or address.
- • No precise location, and no child-to-child private messaging.
- • No follower counts or popularity mechanics.
The account system is designed so COPPA-compliant parental consent workflows plug directly into it.
CLASSROOMS, LIBRARIES & HOMESCHOOL
Each book pairs with builds you can run as a unit: read a chapter, run the build, hold a design review. Builds list difficulty, time, ages, materials and safety notes up front so you can plan a session in a few minutes.
